Took forever to untangle why my Raspberry Pi that I hadn't used in over two months failed to connect to the internet. After changing nameservers and dnsmasq configurations for a bit, I learned that the date/time on the Pi is out of sync. and helped reconfigure the correct date/time and is now in sync with NTP. DNS works now.
